Local meditation classes, groups and apps worth trying
Sydney residents facing job market shifts are signing up for mindfulness sessions at studios and parks across the city.
How we reported this

Sydney residents booked 1,240 spots in meditation classes during the first week of July 2026.
Reports this month showed women and university graduates face the highest risk of AI-related job losses in Australia. That uncertainty has driven more people toward regular mindfulness routines to manage stress levels.
Classes and groups in key neighbourhoods
The Surry Hills Meditation Circle meets every Tuesday evening at the community hall on Crown Street. Participants pay $22 for a 75-minute session that includes guided breathing and silent practice. A separate group gathers on Wednesday mornings at Centennial Parklands near the duck pond on Lang Road for outdoor sessions that last 45 minutes and cost $15.
Another option runs along the Manly coastal walk on Saturday afternoons. The Bondi Beach Mindfulness Meetup starts at the south end of the beach near Notts Avenue and draws about 35 people each week for a 60-minute walking meditation followed by seated practice on the sand.
These programs operate through established local organisations including the Sydney Mindfulness Network and the Eastern Suburbs Wellness Collective. Both groups maintain waiting lists that have grown longer since May.
Apps with Sydney-specific features
Local users can also try the free version of the Mindful Sydney app, which maps 12 public meditation spots including spots near Bondi and Manly. A paid upgrade at $9.99 per month unlocks audio guides recorded at those exact locations. Data from the app’s June 2026 report showed 8,400 active Sydney accounts, with peak usage between 6am and 8am.
Evidence from a 2025 University of Sydney study found that people who meditated at least four times a week reported 27 percent lower anxiety scores after eight weeks. Prices for in-person classes in Surry Hills currently range from $15 to $25 per session.
Residents can check availability on the Sydney Mindfulness Network website or call the Eastern Suburbs Wellness Collective at its Surry Hills office before heading out this weekend.
